Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal: the Chief Minister of Delhi currently in ED custody, has instructed the Health Ministry to address the medicine supply issue in Mohalla clinics across the capital, according to cabinet minister Saurabh Bhardwaj. Kejriwal, aged 55, was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday from his official residence in connection with a money-laundering case related to excise policy. A court on Friday extended the AAP national convenor’s custody with the central agency until March 28.

During a press briefing, the Health Minister stated, “Even while in ED custody, the Delhi CM remains concerned about the healthcare of the state… He fears that the people of Delhi might suffer due to his incarceration… The CM has been informed about difficulties faced by people during tests at Mohalla clinics. He has instructed me to take necessary measures to address this… I want to assure the people of Delhi that even while in jail, their CM is solely focused on their welfare…” Bhardwaj further elaborated that Kejriwal emphasized that steps should be taken to provide medicines and tests free of cost in all hospitals and Mohalla clinics, ensuring that the people of Delhi do not suffer due to his imprisonment.

“Surround” the PM’s residence

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai previously announced plans to “surround” the prime minister’s residence on Tuesday to protest against Kejriwal’s arrest. Rai also mentioned organizing “mega protests” nationwide. Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case related to the now-defunct excise policy. He remains in the agency’s custody until Thursday. According to the central agency, the AAP national convenor is alleged to have sought kickbacks from liquor traders in exchange for favors. The ED has further accused Kejriwal of being the “chief orchestrator and central conspirator” in the now-scrapped policy, along with AAP leaders, ministers, and other individuals.

The AAP has decided in a meeting held on Sunday that it will conduct the ‘Main Bhi Kejriwal’ campaign and that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not resign from his position. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convened the meeting to determine its future actions following Kejriwal’s arrest in the excise policy case.
